MartinLogan Discrete Cinema Soundbar 65 9 Speaker 3 Channel Passive Soundbar

The Motion® Discrete Cinema Series does more than just mirror the physical size of a television; it matches the Acoustic Scale. As screen sizes move from 65” to 85”, we don’t just add “length”—we add capability. By scaling driver density alongside screen real estate, we eliminate the “acoustic-visual gap,” ensuring the soundstage is as expansive and authoritative as the image it accompanies.

Closing The Gap: Aligning Soundstage with the Modern Cinematic Scale Just as a larger screen reveals the full depth and immersion of high-resolution video, high-performance audio should command the same presence by delivering a soundstage that matches the massive scale of today’s premier displays. As display sizes continue to grow, it becomes increasingly challenging for speakers to deliver sound that matches the visual scope while remaining visually unobtrusive. The Motion Discrete Cinema Series addresses this by scaling driver counts directly to screen sizes (65”, 75”, and 85” class matches), all within a slender design. The result is an expansive and authoritative soundstage that perfectly balances high-performance home theater with a low-profile aesthetic, eliminating the “acoustic-visual gap.”

Soundbar 65 | The 65” Match

Engineered for the width of 65” class displays. Utilizing a Gen2 FMT with Folded Motion Waveguide and dual woofers per channel, it creates a discreet yet immersive front soundstage from a single enclosure.

Series Architecture

The Motion® Discrete Cinema Series is engineered for two primary applications: Passive, all-in-one solutions that combine discrete Left, Center, and Right channels into a single, high-performance integrated bar or individual LCR models for maximum system flexibility (Left/Center/Right or Surround). No matter which application you choose, all Discrete Cinema models share the same acoustic DNA

The Voice of Discrete Cinema

The key to Discrete Cinema’s performance is an uncompromised acoustic platform that doesn’t allow the ultra-slim design to get in the way of delivering truly powerful, yet precise sound.

The Star of The Show: Gen2 Folded Motion Tweeter

The Gen2 Folded Motion Tweeter packs a surface area many times larger than that of a traditional tweeter into a very compact space. This space-efficient thin-film technology utilizes an ultra-lightweight film to produce sound, allowing for effortless precision and vanishingly low distortion at all volume levels.

The Supporting Cast: High-Excursion Woven Fiberglass Woofers

With the high frequencies handled by the FMT, MartinLogan engineers designed a 4” Woven Fiberglass Woofer that could handle the detail and punch needed to fill in the critical midrange area. The discrete channels of the Soundbar models are also internally isolated from each other for maximum channel separation.

Extruded Aluminum Enclosures: The Strength of Slim

To achieve such a low profile without sacrificing acoustic integrity, the speaker enclosure is made of extruded aluminum. The inherent strength of aluminum allows for thinner cabinet walls, maximizing internal volume while virtually eliminating resonance, resulting in cleaner, more accurate sound.
