What's New in Series 2?

1. Next-Gen 32-Bit DAC Architecture

Marantz upgraded the digital-to-analog converter stage on both models to high-performance 32-bit, 8-channel Cirrus Logic DACs. The CINEMA 60 Series 2 utilizes a single 8-channel chip, while the CINEMA 50 Series 2 utilizes dual chips to handle up to 15 processed channels. Both receivers now feature a switchable DAC filter mode to fine-tune high-frequency warmth and resolution.

2. Dirac Live Expansion Across the Lineup

The biggest upgrade for the CINEMA 60 Series 2 is the addition of Dirac Live support, a feature previously restricted to the CINEMA 50 and above. Owners can now upgrade to Dirac Live Room Correction. Meanwhile, the CINEMA 50 Series 2 expands its capabilities to support Dirac's flagship Active Room Treatment (ART) alongside Room Correction and Bass Control.

3. Exclusive Cinema 50 Series 2 Audio Modes

The Series 2 update brings two flagship audio features to the CINEMA 50:

• Dolby Atmos Channel Expander: Dynamically redistributes spatial audio metadata across expanded speaker configurations.

• Center Bi-Amp Mode: Allows bi-amping the center channel speaker for pristine dialogue clarity in dedicated cinema rooms.

4. Gamer & Calibrator Friendly Upgrades
