Dali Unleashes a Sonik Boom - Meet the New DALI SONIK Series

At Safe and Sound, we’ve always praised DALI for their ability to bring authentic Danish craftsmanship and "low-loss" sound into the home. The arrival of the DALI SONIK Series marks a significant leap forward, replacing the beloved Oberon line with a speaker that doesn't just play music—it breathes life into it.

Designed for those who want audiophile-grade performance without the hefty price tag, the SONIK series inherits high-end technologies from the flagship KORE and RUBIKORE models. Whether you are building a dedicated hi-fi room or a dedicated home theater room, these speakers are engineered to deliver a wider soundstage and more natural tonality than ever before.

The SONIK Lineup at a Glance

The DALI SONIK 9 is the absolute powerhouse of the range. As the largest speaker in the series, it is designed for those who want uncompromised scale and authority. It features three 7-inch woofers to move serious air, making it the definitive choice for large-scale orchestral pieces or high-impact home cinema.

Retail Price: $4,500.00 a Pair

Woofers and Tweeter: 3 x 7-inch Wood Fiber Woofers, 29mm Soft Textile Dome Tweeter.

Best For: Large dedicated theater rooms and flagship hi-fi systems.

The DALI SONIK 7 is the flagship of the series. This floorstander is built to fill medium-to-large rooms with effortless bass and crystal-clear imaging.

Retail Price: $2,800.00 a Pair

Woofers and Tweeter: 2 x 7-inch Wood Fiber Woofers, 29mm Soft Textile Dome Tweeter.

Best For: Large living spaces and primary 2-channel listening.

The DALI SONIK 5 offers the same floorstanding authority in a slimmer, more room-friendly profile. It’s perfect for those who want the "big speaker" feel without dominating the floor plan.

Retail Price: $1,800 a Pair

Woofers and Tweeter: 2 x 5.25-inch Wood Fiber Woofers, 29mm Soft Textile Dome Tweeter.

Best For: Small to medium listening rooms.

The DALI SONIK 3 is a larger-format bookshelf speaker that bridges the gap between the compact SONIK 2 and the floorstanding models. It offers deeper bass extension and a larger soundstage, making it a "stand-mount" speaker capable of carrying a room on its own.

Retail Price: $1,200.00 a Pair

Woofers and Tweeter: 7-inch Wood Fiber Woofer, 29mm Soft Textile Dome Tweeter.

Best For: High-performance 2-channel systems in smaller rooms.

For smaller spaces, the DALI SONIK 1 delivers surprising scale and punch for its size. It’s an ideal choice for high-end desktop setups or as a premium surround speaker.

Retail Price: $900.00 a Pair

Woofers and Tweeter: 5.25-inch Wood Fiber Woofer, 29mm Soft Textile Dome Tweeter.

Best For: Bookshelf placement or rear surround channels.

Finally, the DALI SONIK Cinema LCR ensures your cinema experience is complete with pristine dialogue clarity that perfectly matches the timbre of the rest of the SONIK family.

Retail Price: $900.00 Each

Woofers and Tweeter: 2 x 5.25-inch Wood Fiber Woofers, 29mm Soft Textile Dome Tweeter.

Best For: Anchoring the center stage in a home theater.

The DALI SONIK On-Wall provides a sleek, space-saving solution without sacrificing audio quality. It utilizes a down-firing bass port design that allows it to sit flush against the wall while still delivering a surprisingly full-bodied sound.

Retail Price: $1,200 Each

Woofers and Tweeter: 5.25-inch Wood Fiber Woofer, 29mm Soft Textile Dome Tweeter.

Best For: Stealthy home theater surrounds or high-quality TV audio in minimalist spaces.

SONIK vs. OBERON: What’s Changed?
While the Oberon series was a legendary value, the SONIK series introduces three major technical upgrades that fundamentally change the listening experience:

SMC Gen-2 Technology: Borrowed from the $100k DALI KORE, the SONIK series features Second Generation Soft Magnetic Compound. This significantly reduces eddy currents and hysteresis, resulting in much lower distortion and a more transparent midrange than the original Oberon.

New Tweeter Design: The SONIK uses an oversized 29mm soft textile dome (up from the 26mm found in older models). This allows the tweeter to handle lower frequencies, creating a seamless transition with the woofers and a much wider sweet spot.

Clarity Cone Technology: The wood fiber cones have been refined with a new "Clarity Cone" geometry. This provides a faster, more controlled response, meaning the bass is tighter and the lower-mids are far more detailed than the Oberon’s presentation.

Final Recommendation: If you already own the Oberon, the SONIK is a meaningful upgrade in clarity and room-filling capability. If you are a new buyer, the SONIK represents the best value-to-performance ratio in DALI's current lineup.
