3-Way Performance from a Practically Invisible Loudspeaker
For the big, full range dynamic audio, with no visible speaker boxes, you need the power and potential of an in-wall 3-way speaker that includes Polk’s patented PowerPort® bass venting system. Easy to install, you can build a complete high performance audio system that blends seamlessly into your décor. Tailor the performance to suit your room environment with superior audio controls to guarantee the most spectacular sound. Even while performing at this level, Vanishing® RT speakers are a great value in today’s hottest style of custom-installed loudspeaker.
Vanishing 265-RT Features:
Vanishing Series RT speakers are timbre-matched to Polk RTi speakers to insure utterly seamless blending from speaker to speaker in systems that combine traditional and built-in speakers.
Superior imaging and clear, lifelike detail is revealed by the responsive silk dome tweeter in Vanishing RT speakers; it’s set in a 15° swivel housing, for more direct high frequency control, excellent off-axis imaging and more placement flexibility.
Vanishing Series built-in speakers feature our exclusive wafer-thin Sheer-Grille™, a magnetically-secured grille that protrudes only 7mm from its surroundings. Sheer-Grilles have nearly transparent, ultra-small perfs, and are acoustically inert, for dynamic, unimpeded sound and more uniform coverage, even in larger rooms.
Painted to match your décor, Vanishing Series built-in speakers are virtually indistinguishable from their surroundings.
Reflective surfaces in rooms can make sound brighter and cause image distortion. Engaging the Vanishing reflective room compensation feature (by selecting the low setting) lowers the tweeter level to compensate for reflective surfaces. Vanishing reflective room compensation is a custom audio control that cuts the level only in the 4-5kHz range, exactly where reflectivity destroys sound quality. Outside this narrow 1kHz band, the tweeter retains its detailed and accurate high frequency response, for no loss of realistic musical details.
If positioning limitations demand that your loudspeakers be installed closer than 2 feet from side walls, the proximity of the surface can result in a response bump between 50 and 200Hz. This can create boomy sound. The Vanishing wall distance toggle switch is a custom audio control that adjusts the crossover to flatten response and tune out boominess, without sacrificing deep bass response, for more lifelike sound and more flexible placement.
PowerPort bass venting is Polk’s patented design for smoothly transitioning the air flow from the port into your listening area, eliminating turbulence and distortion, for bigger, more efficient, deep bass impact.
Easy one-cut, drop-in installation puts built-in audio within reach, with Perfect Fit templates, a precision flange, and (available) pre-construction brackets; achieve secure, vibration-free efficiency with a simple turn of the patented Rotating Cam system.
All Polk products are made using the best materials and the most advanced manufacturing techniques. They pass the industry’s most exhaustive quality tests, including drop testing, extreme signal response and UV & salt exposure testing. Polk loudspeakers are built to perform for a lifetime.

I installed a pair of these in-wall while building an entertainment console in my family room. Hooked them to a Sony receiver, which has the TV, BD player, CD player and iPad inputs. Work GREAT and easy to install.

When designing my basement I looked and listened to so many different speakers, and contemplated built in vs free standing. I looked at Def Techs as well as KEF and B&W. I decided to go for built ins, and hesitated on the polks since there were no reviews. But I have loved Polks so ran with the idea. I was determined to make them sound as good as I could. To do this I wanted to ensure sound was as good as any free standing speakers. So while framing the basement I created sealed boxes about 3 cubic feet each for the speakers (I am an enginerd and calculated about how much air flow is needed for the throw of the speakers, this is how speaker boxes are designed). I filled them with rock wool for sound dampening but allow for air expansion, also caulked the paremeter to help with vibrations. The sound from the 7.1 system is awesome. Friends have told me it sounds better than movie theater sound. The velodyn optimum 10 vibrates the whole basement, and can be felt on the second story of our house! We have not painted the speakers yet, we kind of like the white contrast. I installed 3 RT 265 for front left, right and center channels and two sets of the 80 F/X RT for the sides and rears. The F/X speakers make sound so real We constantly think someone is upsairs, or the dogs are barking, or the doorbell is chimming (ironically annoying haha). Rain sounds awesomely real. just sick! Safe and Sound helped me pick the best speakers within my budget and holy cow it is amazing!
